The Path Makers- Orgnized STI/RTI Camp

STI-RTI - CHECK-UP CAMP

The Path Makers organized a free medical camp for women on Reproductive Tansmitted Infection and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in collaboration with family planning of India in Harijan Basti camp, New Delhi. This camp was organized for the underprivileged girls and women living in the slum. 80 women were examined in the health check-up and were given free medicines. Our concern was to spread awareness, because many STDS have no symptoms, but can still be passed from person to person. A lot of women who have an STD do not even know it. They may look healthy, and still have std. The only way to know for sure is to have regular STD screenings. Their health workers contacted health talk at the camp before examination wherein HIV/AIDS, high risk behaviour and personal hygiene (Menstrual) were discussed. After examination; each person was given a brief health talk reiterating the above points by health assistants / medical officer and led by gynaecologist, Dr. Rita Dhingra.

THE PATH MAKERS- CENTERS

Be the CHANGE MAKER"

The Path Makers is dedicated to spread awareness about Reproductive Tansmitted Infection and Sexually Transmitted Diseases and prevention of the disease.Sexually transmitted infections (STI) rank among the top five conditions for which sexually active adults seek health care in the developing countries. As per the community based STI/RTI prevalence study (2003), over 6% of the adult population in India suffers from one or the other STI/RTI episode annually. There is enough evidence to suggest that early diagnosis, treatment and management of STI/RTI including inducing behavior change through education amongst the target groups will reduce transmission of STI/RTI and HIV .
